Huge, Huge News for our Family!

For those of you who haven't heard, Amy, who has been going through a grueling interview process for the past 3 months, has been accepted as a new State Farm Agent! She is officially an Agent Intern until she opens her office doors on May 1, 2011. (State Farm has an exhaustive 7 month training program before she can open.)

I'm so proud of her, State Farm is the #1 insurance company in the nation, bigger than the next two companies combined, and it's really hard to become a State Farm agent. Of course I'm her #1 fan and not biased at all but she's going to rock!

A Kid's Perspective

(Carter Age 8) Carter opened a fortune cookie and said, "Dad, I got your fortune!" Surprised John said, "What does it say?" Carter said, "The evening will bring romance."

(Tyler Age 4) "Dad, you're great because you buy me Christmas presents." John said, "Really?" Tyler said, "Yeah, if you didn't I wouldn't be saying this."

(Tyler Age 4) "Dad, I look just like you except smaller."

(Tyler Age 4) "Dad, I just want marshmallows, no Mateys!"

(Kate Age 6) John was getting the kids off to school one day Kate said, "Dad you said you would try and use your nice voice the first time you tell us to do something." John said, "I'll try and do better." Kate said "Maybe you should write it on your hand."

(Tyler Age 4) Tyler wanted John to buy him a $100 item. John said "$100 is a lot of money!" Tyler said, "Dad, just write a paycheck!"

(Kate Age 6) One Sunday Kate wanted John to French Braid her hair. He gave it a try and it wasn't going very well. He told her it wasn't working out and she said, "Dad, you should know how to French Braid because you went to French on your mission!"

(Tyler Age 5) John took Carter and Tyler on our annual church Father & Sons Campout. After a few hours Tyler said, "Next year, can we bring Mom?"

(Tyler Age 5) Out of the blue, Tyler said, "Hey Dad, maybe we should make you a job chart!"

(Tyler Age 5) John was helping Tyler decide what to wear and he said, "Dad, when you die can I have your camouflage pants?"

(Tyler Age 4) John had the tables turned on him by Tyler. He wanted to go to the store but John told him he needed to shower first so as John was getting in Tyler said from behind the door, "Dad, you've got 1 minute!" and John could hear Tyler winding the egg timer.

(Carter Age 8) Carter opened his fortune cookie and said, "Dad, I got your fortune!" Surprised John said, "What does it say?" Carter said, "The evening will bring romance."

(Tyler Age 4) John said, "Please rinse out your bowl and put it in the sink. I really want you to start doing it every morning." Tyler said, "Dad, maybe you should have me practice it 5 times."

(Tyler Age 4) "Dad, you're great because you buy me Christmas presents." John said, "Really?" Tyler said, "Yeah, if you didn't I wouldn't be saying this."

(Tyler Age 4) While Tyler and Dad were in the grocery store. As John put corn dogs in the cart Tyler said, "That's what I'm talkin' about!" and as the cashier told John his total was $30 or so Tyler said, "Dad, you have that much money? You're rich!"

Our kids arguing about who likes Eggnog more. (Carter Age 8) “I like eggnog more than Santa!” (Tyler Age 4) “I like it more than Mrs. Claus!)

(Tyler Age 4) "Dad, I look just like you, only smaller."

(Tyler Age 4) We rented a car for a day, cheapest thing we could find, and Tyler got in the back seat said, "Wow Dad, sweet car! It has these cool levers on the doors. If you crank them the window goes down! It's Awesome!"

(Tyler Age 4) One morning John asked Tyler why he woke Carter up and he replied, "So he could start having fun!"

(Tyler Age 4) The whole family had be anxiously waiting for the day to come that we were going to go to Lagoon. When the day arrived Tyler said, "Is it tomorrow today?"

(Tyler Age 4) While getting icecream John said to Tyler, "I'm really proud of you for not crying while we were figuring out if you could get a cone or not." Tyler responded, "I was about to cry!"

(Carter Age 8) While jumping out of the side door of the van, "Time to jump out of the airplane and I just took the last parachute." (Tyler Age 4) "That's okay, I've got a jet pack!"

(Tyler Age 4) "It can't be bedtime yet, the sky is still up!"

(Carter Age 8) John and Amy were talking and didn't know Carter was paying attention. Amy said, "You know Tyler doesn't look exactly like Carter." Carter immediately added, "Pretty close, pretty darn close."

(Tyler Age 4) Our keyboard has an applause setting so it sounds like applause when you push any key. On Amy's birthday Tyler turned on the keyboard, selected the applause setting, held down the keys, and said, "Mom they're cheering for you!"

(Carter Age 8) Watching the snow fall in April Carter said to Amy, "Mom, sometimes it's hard to believe we live in a desert."

(Kate Age 5) Having only seen wheat bread in her life, Kate came home from a friends house and said, "Mom there's this really good bread you can get at WalMart, it comes in a white bag with colorful dots."

(Kate Age 5) While waiting an unusually long time for our order at the Panda Express drive-thru Kate said, "Maybe they should just call this place Panda, since it takes so long."

(Tyler Age 3) On the way to the bathroom by the lake: "Dad, you hold my 'Nola bar' and I'll hold my wee-wee."

(Tyler Age 3) When we were out a stranger said to Tyler, "Hey there tiger!" to which Tyler responded, "It's Tyler, not Tiger!"

(Kate Age 5) "Mom, I'm surrounded by Boys!"

(Tyler Age 3) I gave Tyler a piece of very hot pizza and said make sure you blow on it to cool it down. After feeling how hot it was Tyler said, "Dad I don't have that much air!"

(Katie Age 5) After Dad asked the kids to clean up the front room. "But Dad we just got home from a long day at church!"

(Katie Age 5) While getting sunscreen on her face. "Dad I don't need sunscreen on my legs because they are so far from the sun."

(Tyler Age 2.5) Dad said, "How's my little guy?" Tyler said, "Cute!"

(Katie Age 4.5) John went into bathroom to wipe Katie. After he was done he said, "Okay, let's wash your hands." Katie replied, "I didn't touch anything dirty, you did."

(Tyler Age 2) Tyler got hit in the nose with a shovel and was bleeding a little bit. As we were bandaging him up John said, "You poor little guy." Tyler said, "Who's the poor little guy?" John said, "You are." Tyler responded, "Don't want to be that poor little guy."

(Katie Age 2) We had just started to potty train Katie and Amy noticed she had wet her pants and it was running down her legs and onto the floor. Amy said, "Kate did you pee your pants?" Kate responded, "No Mom, just my socks!"

(Katie Age 4) We were eating at Panda Express and I read Kate's fortune to her. It said, "Your good fortune will take you to Asia." Kate then said, "But Dad, I don't even know where Asia lives."

(Carter Age 6) Carter asked me if we could go to the Dollar store and when I said I didn't think we could today he said, "Dad my throat and head hurts because my whole body wants to go to the Dollar store."

(Katie Age 4) Tyler put a toy down the bathroom sink and from another room Amy overheard Katie say to Tyler, "Tyler was that a good idea or a bad idea? Some families put toys down the sink, but in our family, we don't put toys down the sink."

(Tyler Age 2) He's just big enough to wiggle over the side of the Pack and Play then fall in. After he successfully plopped in the first time he said, "Dad, I made a basket!"

(Katie Age 3.75) “Dad, why did Jesus give us red ants?”

(Carter Age 5) Carter said to Amy one day, “Mom, how come sometimes you and Dad act like you’re in love even though you’re married?”

(Carter Age 2) Carter was looking at one of Amy's decorations that looks like a chicken when he pretended to take a bite and said, "It's Chicken, but it's not yummy!"

(Tyler Age 2) John asked Tyler if he knew what it meant to be potty trained and Tyler said, "Chugga Chugga Woo Woo!"
